FOLLOW UP FOR THE "ANIMAL PROJECT"

Send an animal project was launched 12th/04/2013 with the major aim of availing employment to the natives of Kivunza among others.
This was done through donation of Animals in this case pigs and Goats which these people would look after until they produce so they can send some offsprings to the next Family and sell the rest to support their Families mostly to avail income to support education of their children and the circle continues.

Furthermore this project was aimed at diversifying economy for the Natives of Kivunza due to the fact that they are completely dependent to fishing whose benefits are at times seasonal hence exposing them to extremes of poverty due to lack of adequate income therefore the project aimed at improving standards of living for the natives.
Following its initiation, we have arranged a follow up visit on the Island to check on the progress and thus evaluate the effectiveness so as to judge and supplement on the Animals if necessary. This visit is scheduled 19th-07-2013

Left is the general out look for Kivunza landing site and the housing structures for the natives.

Left are some of the beneficiaries of the Animal Project choosing their animals as purchased on the previous mission trip by Hope for the Needy youths.

Left are the 12 members who were targeted for the initiation of the project and from these we will evaluate the progress of the project due to out Mission trip Scheduled 19th-07-2013.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!!

Dear all
Although we have experienced numerous situations that prolonged the progress for the launch of the Animal project, we are grateful to break the news that 12th/04/2013 was the date we traveled on Kalangala Islands up to a remote landing site called KIVUNZA where we accomplished all the intended objectives of this our
"SEND AN ANIMAL PROJECT".
Here we painted Kivunza Baptist church and gave out four pigs and 1 goat to the vulnerable groups as we had promised on the previous mission trip while in this location.
Hope for the Needy Youth Missions Owes much gratitude to volunteers and or members who traveled along  to this project for their self denial, time and financial involvement towards accomplishment of this project. We acknowledge the great spiritual, financial  and verbal motivation from various people whose names are too numerous to mention in this brief note but to whom we owe much gratitude for their positive contributions! However the following names deserve a mention for their work was not only tremendous but also tedious;
1. Eric and Krisan Conder Pease
2. Semhar Kesete
3. Yosan Teckle
4. Feven Beyene
5. John Keyune
6. Mwesigwa George

We pray that God the almighty bless and reward you abundantly!
The following are pictures to illustrate our accomplishments on Kivunza landing site:

Left are pictures to illustrate the painting on Kivunza Baptist church.

Although it was the first time to paint for our international volunteers from Eritrea, their final work is rather amazing and a cause to believe that the church could have been painted by professionals.

It was a great mission for all of us especially our international friends who mentioned it was the best experience they have ever had since they came to  Uganda.

It was great fun after finishing our first aim of this trip and left reveals a group of new professional painters.
On reaching the landing site, numerous kids came running to greet us.
This hospitality, our international friends testify they had never seen.
Left HNM members greet and sake hands with the children at Kivunza landing site.
The abundant ecomic activity on this island is fishing from which they obtain fish and dry them as shown in the picture below after which these are exported for income.
This one source of income is rather inadequate and at times not reliable as fish are seasonal yet a cause to fish immature fish leading to their scarcity and hence or otherwise reducing or hindering income to the natives to boost their standards of living.

Left is a beneficiary of Hope for the Needy giving a word of thanks for the HNM members.
She said," I wish i knew God at your age for you guys are not waiting for God to just do something for you like most of us do, but rather you do alot of things for him". We are blessed to be an example even to the elderly and its a cause for us to do more.
When we passed through the water, God was with us and the waves did not overcome our small boat.  Althought it was scary but we all did it.
This is on the way to buying animals and a few of our beneficiaries traveled a long with us in the boat.
First time traveling on the boat for most of the volunteers, they all took it as experts.

As Hope for the Needy, We looked at diversifying economy by donating pigs to our beneficiaries to be used as a source of income especially to the ladies who never go fishing and widowed due to rampant HIV/AIDS leading to extreme poverty that retards proper standards of living and limits ability to educate their children and look after their families.

Left One of the HNM beneficiaries posses with the animals which we bought to initiate the animal project.

Not only was this trip a platform for aiding the vulnerable, it was as well an ample time to establish personal relationships between the HMN members and the natives of Kivunza landing site.

We are indebted of the hospitality and love shown to us by Pastor Mathew Dingiro, a resident of Kivunza landing site left in white shirt who allowed us accommodation and feeding throughout the length of our stay on the island.
Greater things are yet to come and are still to be done in Africa by Hope for the Needy Youth missions. Together we can.

Left are house for some of the residents near Kivunza Baptist Church.
Despite their poor standards of living, the children of kivunza will alwasy welcome you with a huge smile. In their eyes there is so much hope for the future.
HNM volunteers handing out gifts to the kids on arrival to the landing site.
Some of the HNM beneficiaries pose with the members after purchasing the animals to be donated to them.
Left, some of the beneficiaries are being interviewed on how they will take care of animals and the mode of sending to the offspring to the next family.

These beneficiaries of the time are supposed to look after these animals and send the offsprings to the next family in the cue after which they will deserve complete ownership of the mother animal and a few of the offsprings for sale to obtain income that would enable them take care of their Families and hopefully
 improve their standards of living.
SEND AN ANIMAL project is thus a control experiment to compare and contrast with the previous mechanism of physically handing out materials such as food, kerosene, soap and salt.
We are looking at providing a sustainable source of income to our vulnerable groups that would allow them to purchase these things on their own over
a period of time.
Despite the rampant poverty, the birth rates and thus population increase on kivunza landing site is rather increasing greatly.
This reduces chances for Child education and access to other basic needs to some of the children as they are too many for their Parents to afford.
To solve this problem we are to initiate a Family planning conference in the future to stress its importance and create awareness to the People.
It is difficult to monitor hygiene of the children and probably for the entire Camp considering the fact that there is only two Pit latrines at the moment established by the government for use by the high population of Kivunza landing site.

In our "SEND AN ANIMAL" project we hope to avail adequate source of income to allows ease of access to medicine so as to reduce on the effects especially of Malaria that is outstanding at the time.
We are blessed to be a motivation to national and international Youths coming up together to enjoy our Youth yet being a light to others as we do what Jesus would do if he were here.
It would be our pleasure for many youths to join us on this our Journey to empower the weak hence making a better Africa.

Naturally the beauty of Kivunza landing site is rather amazing and a cause for most of us to visit over and over.
It is our prayer that God will use you and all of us to bring hope to these the vulnerable groups that occupy kivunza landing site.
More volunteers are welcome to come along with us during the course of our Mission. For wile Pictures can crystallize the dilemma, your presence explains a lot better and means a lot to the people occupying Kivunza landing site.
Contact us on the addresses below if you ever wish to be informed on our Plans and upcoming Projects  that perhaps you would like tobe part of and or travel along with us towards accomplishment of these objectives.

SEND AN ANIMAL PROJECT

This project is aimed at establishing a more sustainable source of income to the vulnerable groups as opposed to the previous hand out mechanism in our projects we established in kalangala, Namutamba and Luwonvu.
We intend to avail one female animal to each the selected 13 families which they will take care of until it produces after which they will pass the off springs to yet another vulnerable family to repeat the cycle and this entitles full ownership of the mother animal to the family that has sent the off spring. No member/family is entitled to full ownership of the HNM animal before passing the off springs and therefore must not sell the animal before it produces hence or otherwise legal actions to be taken upon deviation from terms and conditions. Members have received full explanations of the terms and conditions that apply to receipt of HNM animals thus the project applies only to those willing to abide by the terms and conditions.  We believe to launch this project on the 1st-March 2013 on Kivunza landing site where we have appointed a management committee from natives of integrity to monitor progress of the Send an animal Project and thus calling upon your support to enhance effectiveness of this project.
You may never know or meet them, but you can change their lives together with Hope for the  Needy Youth missions.
